We’re incredibly proud to have contributed to two library projects recognised at the prestigious 2026 Australian Library and Information Association Design Awards — Biyal-a Armstrong Creek Library, which received a commendation in the Public Library category, and Yellamundie Library and Gallery, which was named the national winner in the public library category.
These awards celebrate outstanding library design across Australia, recognising spaces that support lifelong learning, encourage creativity and help strengthen community connection. For us, being involved in projects like these is about much more than supplying furniture. It’s about helping create environments where people genuinely want to spend time.
Opened in 2024 and funded by the Victorian Government, Biyal-a Armstrong Creek Library was purpose-built for one of Australia’s fastest-growing communities. Designed by Buchan, the library was created to feel open, welcoming and flexible — a place designed for modern community life.
The $21.8m facility, jointly funded by the City of Greater Geelong ($20.364m) and the Victorian government ($1.5m), opened in August 2024 and is operated by the Geelong Regional Library Corporation (GRLC).
Working closely with Buchan architects, we designed and supplied a range of shelving solutions throughout the space, including Sliimform shelving, Magazine Units, Curvatures and the Picture Book Box within the children’s story time area. Beyond the shelving itself, collaboration played a big part in the project, working alongside the design team to carefully plan the placement of shelving and book collections, shaping a space that feels intuitive, easy to navigate and comfortable for visitors of all ages.
The result is a library designed to support learning, creativity and collaboration for years to come.
At Yellamundie Library and Gallery, designed by FJC Studio, we supplied Sliimform shelving throughout the entire library, complementing the building’s distinctive architecture while supporting its extensive and diverse book collections. Designed as a space built around culture, knowledge and community connection. The clean and contemporary design of the shelving integrates seamlessly into the overall aesthetic of the library, balancing functionality with a strong visual presence.
Presented by the Australian Library and Information Association, the biennial awards recognise excellence in contemporary library design and celebrate the investment being made into public learning spaces across the country. Yellamundie was selected from a highly competitive field after being shortlisted in the public library category, one of five award streams spanning public, academic, school, special and other libraries.
Being recognised alongside some of Australia’s leading libraries is something we’re incredibly proud of. Through projects like these, we continue to focus on creating spaces that shape the way communities access, experience and engage with knowledge every day.
