Marrickville Library

The stunning new Marrickville Library and Pavilion is a state-of-the-art community hub that incorporates gradens, exhibition spaces, an 85,000-volume book collection and a cafe.

The library and community centre is located on the site of the former Marrickville hospital and the striking design by BVN integrates contemporary design and technology with the original, conserved heritage elements of the main hospital building.

Inner West Council’s magnificent new library in Marrickville has taken out the prestigious NSW Premier’s Prize at the 2020 New South Wales Architecture Awards.

The design reflects a transformation in the role of libraries, from a traditionally quiet place to study and read, into a vibrant space to learn, work, and play.

The spectacular three-storey space includes a multitude of Sliimform library units to house the large and diverse collection.
